How to Write a Report That Gets Fixed Fast
The single biggest difference between a correction that gets fixed in a day and one that sits unresolved for weeks is specificity. A message that says "the PPF calculator seems off" is hard to act on; a message that says "on the PPF Calculator, I entered ₹1,50,000 a year for 15 years at 7.1%, and got ₹40,68,209 — I expected a slightly higher figure based on my bank's own PPF statement" gives us something we can actually verify and reproduce. When you write in, try to include:
- The exact calculator name or URL (e.g. "NPS Calculator" or investknow.in/nps-calculator/).
- The exact inputs you entered, so we can reproduce your result.
- The number the calculator gave you, and the number you expected instead — with a source if you have one (a bank statement, an official circular, another calculator).
- Your device and browser, if the issue looks like a display problem rather than a calculation problem.
For Financial Institutions, Journalists, and Regulators
If you represent a bank, a fund house, an insurer, a government body, or a regulator such as RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, or PFRDA, and you've spotted a figure on Invest Know that doesn't match your own published rate or rule, please write in directly — we treat these reports as a priority and will verify and correct the affected calculator promptly. Journalists and researchers are welcome to reach out for context on how a specific calculator's methodology works; we're happy to explain our formulas and sources, though we can't share proprietary code beyond what's already visible in the page itself, since every calculator runs entirely in plain, viewable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
What Happens After You Write to Us
If you're reporting a calculator error, we re-check the specific figure against the official source (the relevant RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA, or EPFO document, or the current Income Tax slab) before making any change, and we update the live calculator directly rather than just replying to say we will. If you've suggested a new calculator, we genuinely track these requests — several of our most recent calculators, including the Emergency Fund Calculator and the NPS vs Unified Pension Scheme comparison, came from exactly this kind of message.
What we can't do through this form is give you advice about your own money — your specific SIP, your tax return, your insurance policy, or your retirement plan. That's not a formality; it's because Invest Know is an educational tool, not a registered financial adviser, and giving you specific advice without knowing your full financial picture would do you a disservice rather than a favour. For that kind of guidance, a SEBI-registered investment adviser, a chartered accountant, or a licensed insurance advisor is the right person to talk to — we're happy to help you understand the numbers, but the decision has to be made with someone qualified to advise you personally.
