This page explains, in plain language, what information Invest Know collects when you use our calculators and guides, what we do with it, and what rights you have over it.

1. Introduction and Scope

Invest Know ("we," "us," "our") operates investknow.in, a free website of financial calculators, guides, and articles for Indian investors. This Privacy Policy applies to everyone who visits investknow.in, uses any of our calculators, reads our guides, or contacts us through the site. It does not apply to any third-party website you may reach through a link on our site — those services have their own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review separately.

2. Our Privacy-First Design: What We Don't Collect

Every calculator on Invest Know — whether it's our SIP calculator, PPF calculator, salary/CTC calculator, or any other tool — is built entirely in HTML, CSS, and client-side JavaScript. This is a deliberate design choice with a direct privacy benefit: when you type your investment amount, salary, tenure, interest rate, or any other figure into a calculator, that calculation happens instantly inside your own browser on your own device. Nothing you type into a calculator's input fields is transmitted to Invest Know's servers, logged, stored in a database, or shared with any third party. When you close the tab or refresh the page, that information is gone. We built it this way because a financial calculator asking you to trust it with your salary or savings figures should not need to store them at all.

3. Information We Collect Automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting and analytics infrastructure automatically records some basic, non-identifying technical information when you visit, such as:

• Approximate location derived from IP address (typically city or region level, not precise);
• Browser type and version, device type (desktop, tablet, or mobile), and operating system;
• Pages visited, time spent on a page, and the site or search engine that referred you here;
• Aggregate, anonymised usage patterns — for example, which calculators are most popular.

This information is collected in aggregate and is used only to understand how our site is used and to improve it. It is not linked to your calculator inputs, since those never leave your browser in the first place.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Invest Know does not set its own tracking or advertising cookies to monitor individual visitors across the web. Our WordPress hosting platform may use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to serve pages correctly (for example, caching or security cookies), and if we use a standard analytics service such as Google Analytics, that service may set its own limited cookies to measure aggregate traffic. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser's settings; doing so will not affect your ability to use any calculator on this site, since calculators do not depend on cookies to function.

5. Information You Provide Us Directly

The only place on Invest Know where you're asked to share personal information is our Contact Us page. That form is deliberately built without a server-side backend: when you submit it, your browser opens your own email app with a pre-filled message addressed to our inbox, and you send it yourself, the same as writing us a normal email. This means your name, email address, and message travel through your own email provider directly to ours — they are never received, logged, or stored by an Invest Know server or database at the point of submission. We only see your message once it arrives in our inbox, and we use it solely to respond to you.

6. How We Use Information We Collect

We use the limited information described above to: keep the website running securely and reliably; understand which calculators and guides are useful so we can improve or expand them; respond to questions, feedback, or correction requests sent through our Contact Us page; and detect and prevent abuse, spam, or malicious activity directed at the site. We do not use any information we collect to build individual user profiles, and we do not use it for automated decision-making about you.

7. Legal Basis: India's Data Protection Framework

Invest Know is operated for users in India and is designed with India's data protection framework in mind, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the reasonable security practices required under Section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Because our calculators are architected to avoid collecting personal financial data in the first place, and because our only direct personal-data touchpoint (the Contact Us form) is initiated voluntarily by you through your own email client, our processing of personal data is intentionally minimal, which is itself the core principle — data minimisation — that Indian and global privacy law encourages.

8. Third-Party Service Providers and Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or data brokers, and we do not currently run third-party advertising networks on this site. We may use standard, widely-used third-party service providers to keep the site running and to understand traffic, such as a web hosting provider and a web analytics service (for example, Google Analytics). These providers process limited technical data (like the aggregate traffic information in Section 3) under their own privacy and security practices, and only to the extent needed to provide their service to us. Should this change in the future — for example, if we introduce advertising — we will update this policy accordingly before doing so.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited information we do handle, including using a reputable, secured hosting environment and keeping our website software up to date. Because calculator inputs never reach our servers, the single biggest privacy and security risk associated with a financial calculator — a data breach exposing your salary, savings, or investment figures — does not apply here by design. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security for any information transmitted to us, such as an email sent through our Contact Us page.

10. Data Retention

We do not retain calculator inputs, because we never receive them. Emails sent to us through the Contact Us page are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond to your query or maintain a record of correspondence, after which they may be deleted at our discretion or upon your request. Aggregate analytics data is generally retained by our analytics provider according to its own standard retention settings, and is not personally identifying.

11. Children's Privacy

Invest Know is intended for use by adults capable of making their own financial and investment decisions, consistent with our Terms & Conditions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and since our calculators do not collect personal information from any user in the first place, this risk is inherently limited. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us through our Contact Us page, please write to us so we can delete it.

12. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them

Under India's data protection framework, you generally have the right to know what personal data an organisation holds about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, and to request deletion of your data. In Invest Know's case, because we do not store calculator inputs and do not maintain user accounts, there is typically no personal data of yours held on our systems to access, correct, or delete beyond an email you may have sent us. If you've contacted us and want that correspondence corrected, deleted, or explained, write to us again through our Contact Us page and we'll act on your request promptly.

13. International Visitors

Invest Know's calculators are built around Indian financial rules, tax slabs, and government schemes, but the site is publicly accessible from anywhere. Because calculator inputs are processed entirely in your own browser and are never transmitted to us, there is no cross-border transfer of your calculator data to consider. If you contact us from outside India, your message is still handled the same way described in Section 5, through your own email provider to ours.

14. Third-Party Links

Our guides and calculators sometimes link to external websites, including official regulator pages (RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA, EPFO, the Income Tax Department, and similar) for further reading, as described in our Disclaimer. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices or content of any external website. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site before sharing information with it.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our site's functionality, or applicable law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically, especially before using our Contact Us form.
